2025 LG Polls: Sanwo-Olu to Host Lagos APC Leaders, Candidates Ahead of Council Elections
As Lagos gears up for the July 12 local government elections, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is set to meet with leaders and chairmanship candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state on Tuesday, as part of last-minute mobilisation efforts.
Reliable sources informed WellNaija Tribune that the strategic meeting will hold at the State House, Marina, by noon, with the primary objective of galvanising support and strengthening the party’s internal cohesion ahead of the polls.

The APC had, in May 2025, conducted its primaries at its Ikeja secretariat, producing candidates for the 57 local government areas and 375 wards across Lagos. However, the exercise was not without controversy, prompting the party to establish a reconciliation committee to engage with aggrieved aspirants and promote unity within the party.
Last week, the party officially flagged off its local government election campaigns, presenting party flags to the 57 chairmanship candidates during a colourful ceremony attended by top-ranking APC leaders and government officials.
In a statement to WellNaija Tribune, APC Lagos Publicity Secretary Mogaji Seye Oladejo described the forthcoming meeting with the governor as a critical rallying point.
“The engagement is intended to sharpen our collective strategy and energise our campaign structures across all zones,” Oladejo said.
“Lagos APC remains thankful for the enduring confidence of Lagosians in our progressive agenda. The tremendous progress recorded by our local government councils in education, primary healthcare, housing, infrastructure, and social welfare remains a testament to good governance at the grassroots.”
He further expressed confidence that the APC would secure overwhelming victories at the polls, noting that the upcoming elections would reaffirm Lagosians’ trust in the party’s ability to deliver sustainable development across the state.
As campaign activities enter full swing, all eyes remain on how the APC will consolidate its influence across the LGAs, particularly amid calls for greater youth inclusion, transparency, and grassroots impact.
