2027 Elections: INEC Says ADA Not Eligible for Registration Yet
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has clarified that the proposed political party, All Democratic Alliance (ADA), cannot be registered at this time due to its failure to meet basic registration criteria.
INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Sam Olumekun, disclosed this on Tuesday while addressing journalists in Abuja.

Olumekun explained that while the Commission has received numerous letters of intent from various political groups, none, including ADA, has fulfilled the preliminary conditions necessary to advance to the formal application stage.
“We currently have several letters of intent from different groups, but none of them qualifies as a formal application yet,” he stated. “Before submitting any letter of intent, certain criteria must be met. That has not happened in these cases.”

Sources close to the Commission revealed that one of the issues with ADA’s letter was the omission of the word “electoral” in its address to the INEC Chairman—a crucial detail that reflects the party’s non-compliance with administrative requirements.
As Nigeria moves closer to the 2027 general elections, the electoral umpire continues to emphasize that adherence to established guidelines remains a prerequisite for the registration of any new political party.
