Tension as Armed Police Take Over PDP National Secretariat Ahead of Crucial NEC Meeting
Heavily armed security operatives on Monday stormed Wadata Plaza, the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in a dramatic operation that disrupted normal activities and forced staff and journalists out of the premises.
The development, which occurred just hours before the party’s scheduled Expanded National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, triggered anxiety among stakeholders and raised concerns of a deliberate move to stall the high-level gathering.

According to reports monitored on Channels Television, the officers arrived in large numbers, cordoning off the building and sealing off Dalaba Street, the main access road to the PDP headquarters.
Initially, some party staff were allowed into the premises, but they were later asked to leave. Journalists who had come to cover the expected NEC meeting were also escorted out.

Although no official reason has been given for the security operation as of press time, the timing has raised suspicion within the party’s ranks, particularly as internal tensions over recent leadership developments continue to mount.
Party loyalists gathered around the premises and expressed concern over what they described as an infringement on democratic processes. The PDP has yet to issue a formal response, but insiders say emergency consultations are underway among key stakeholders.
