Zulum Denies Defection Rumour, Reaffirms Commitment to APC
Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, has firmly dismissed claims making the rounds on social media that he plans to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) alongside five other governors.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, the governor described the report as false and a product of political mischief. He reassured the public of his unwavering loyalty to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“We have seen the baseless and mischievous reports alleging that I am set to leave the APC for the ADC. Let me state categorically that this is entirely false, a creation of those who have contributed nothing meaningful to the progress of Borno State or our nation,” the statement read.
Governor Zulum emphasised that such rumours are mere distractions aimed at stirring unnecessary political tension. “My focus remains on the welfare and development of Borno State. We have no time for idle political speculation—we are fully occupied with the task of rebuilding and transforming our dear state,” he said.

He called on the people of Borno and the wider public to disregard the claims, urging the media to always seek confirmation from credible and official sources before circulating unverified reports.
“We stand firm in our commitment to the APC and in delivering good governance for our people,” Zulum concluded.
