The news was confirmed in a statement signed by Garba Shehu, his longtime spokesperson. The statement reads:
“INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAIHIR RAJI’UN. The family of the former president has announced the passing of Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, this afternoon in a London clinic. May Allah grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. Amin.”
Buhari had been in London in recent weeks undergoing medical treatment for age-related health concerns, sources close to the family disclosed.
