Man Who Mocked Buhari’s Death Loses His Father Within 24 Hours
Nigerian social media influencer, Gaius Chibueze, has announced the passing of his father, barely 24 hours after publicly mocking the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Chibueze, known for his blunt commentary on X (formerly Twitter), had earlier criticized the late president following news of Buhari’s death in London at the age of 82. In his initial post, Chibueze accused Buhari of misgovernance and causing untold hardship for Nigerians during his time in office.

> “Buhari was a terrible president. We must not pretend now! May his soul receive what he did to Nigeria,” Chibueze wrote, sparking both backlash and support from different quarters online.
While some social media users faulted him for his tone and for showing disrespect to the dead, others defended him, saying he was merely speaking the truth about Buhari’s controversial legacy.

However, in a twist of fate, Chibueze later returned to the platform to announce the death of his father, Chizueze Ngene, in Enugu State. Sharing a throwback photo of himself as a child alongside his late father, he penned an emotional tribute:
> “A few minutes ago, my father passed away in his home in Enugu State. I am comforted by memories, like when I was just five years old and he was already teaching me how to read the Bible and preach from house to house as a Jehovah’s Witness.”
His announcement triggered a wave of reactions online, with some trolls linking his father’s death to his earlier comments about Buhari.
One user wrote:
> “Death comes for us all. He mocked Buhari in death, only for his own father to pass hours later. A solemn reminder that none of us is above mortality. Show respect, it might be you next.”
Another harsh critic tweeted:
> “Another IPOB fool bites the dust. For what you said about Buhari, your father’s death is your karma.”
In response to the backlash, Chibueze doubled down on his criticism of Nigeria’s leaders, linking his father’s death to the country’s poor healthcare system.
> “Buhari was a useless president. If they had built good hospitals in Nigeria, he wouldn’t have been flying to London for treatment. If there were good hospitals here, my father might still be alive. I was only waiting to fly him to Turkey to replace the batteries in his chest. God punish any Nigerian politician who refuses to do their job.”
The incident has sparked fresh debates online about morality, karma, and the state of healthcare in Nigeria.
