Dele Momodu Resigns from PDP, Joins ADC
Veteran journalist and former presidential aspirant, Chief Dele Momodu, has officially announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing what he described as the party’s takeover by antidemocratic forces.
In a resignation letter dated July 17, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward 4 Chairman in Ihievbe, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, Momodu declared his immediate exit from the party.
“My reason is clear and direct,” Momodu wrote. “Our party has undeniably been seized by antidemocratic elements, both from within and without, in broad daylight.”

He further stated:
“It is therefore honourable to relinquish the remains of the party to them while the majority of us earnestly align with the new coalition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).”

Chief Momodu, publisher of the widely acclaimed Ovation International Magazine, expressed his gratitude to the local leadership of his ward for their loyalty and support over the years.
His defection to the ADC marks a notable shift in Edo State’s evolving political landscape and adds fresh momentum to the ongoing realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Momodu, who joined the PDP in 2021, had been an active participant in national conversations and party affairs. His decision to leave follows a wave of defections by other prominent figures disenchanted with the PDP’s internal dynamics and direction.
Observers say Momodu’s move will further shape conversations around Nigeria’s next political chapter as alignments solidify and opposition structures recalibrate.
