BREAKING: Nigeria’s First Female Daily Editor, Dr. Doyin Abiola, Passes On
Dr. Doyin Abiola, veteran journalist and widow of late Chief MKO Abiola, has died.
Wellnaija Tribune gathered that the trailblazing media icon passed away on Tuesday night, marking the end of an era for one of Nigeria’s most respected women in journalism.

Dr. Abiola made history as the first Nigerian woman to serve as editor of a national daily newspaper. She was also the former Managing Director and Publisher of National Concord, a platform closely associated with her late husband and business mogul, Chief MKO Abiola, winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election.

A scholar and journalist of distinction, Dr. Abiola earned her undergraduate degree in English and Drama from the University of Ibadan in 1969, setting the stage for a pioneering media career that spanned decades.
