Air Peace Co-Pilot, Crew Deny Drug, Alcohol Allegations
Air Peace co-pilot David Bernard and cabin crew member Maduneme Victory have rejected claims by the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) that they tested positive for alcohol and a hard drug.
Speaking on Arise Television on Friday, Bernard faulted the credibility of the tests, alleging they were conducted at an unregistered centre and with questionable procedures. He maintained that he neither drinks nor uses drugs.

“We are in 2025. If you are conducting an alcohol test, you use a breathalyser on the spot. Instead, they took our blood and urine samples on July 13 and came back with results on the 23rd. That is unacceptable,” Bernard said, adding that Air Peace carries out random checks on staff to ensure compliance with aviation standards.

The NSIB report, signed by its Director of Public Affairs and Family Assistance, Mrs. Bimbo Oladeji, had alleged that toxicological tests on the crew of an Air Peace aircraft that veered off the runway in Port Harcourt on July 13 returned positive results.
Air Peace swiftly dismissed the report, describing it as an attempt to tarnish the airline’s image.
