— Cites Personal Commitments, Bows Out After 20-Month Stint
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) is set to unveil a new face to lead its public communications, following the voluntary resignation of Mr. Olufemi Soneye, who served as the company’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer.
In a personally signed statement made available to WellNaija Tribune and other platforms, Soneye confirmed his decision to vacate the role, stating that the move would enable him to focus on personal responsibilities and family obligations that now demand his closer attention.
“It has been a profound honour to serve both the Company and our country, and to contribute in my own way to the ongoing transformation of NNPC Ltd,” Soneye wrote in his farewell note.
He expressed heartfelt gratitude to colleagues within the organisation and media professionals across the country for their support during his time at the helm of NNPC’s corporate communications unit, a position he held for nearly two years.
Soneye acknowledged the “incredible professionals” he worked with in building a more robust communication strategy for NNPC Ltd, and pledged to remain a loyal ambassador of the company even after his exit.
“I remain a steadfast supporter and ambassador of NNPC Ltd wherever I go,” he noted. “I enjoin you, dear colleagues, to continue your robust, balanced, and constructive reportage in support of the company’s noble mission.”
While no official announcement has yet been made about his replacement, insiders within the national oil company hinted that a new spokesperson will be named in the coming days.

As industry watchers await the next appointee to manage the company’s public image, stakeholders continue to commend Soneye for his professionalism and calm demeanor during his time at the top.
