JUST IN: Air Peace Flight Skids Off Runway in Port Harcourt, No Casualties Reported
Passengers aboard an Air Peace flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt experienced a moment of panic earlier today, Sunday, July 13, 2025, after the aircraft veered off the runway while landing at the Port Harcourt International Airport.
According to reports, the plane suffered what aviation experts describe as a “runway excursion” — an incident where an aircraft departs from the designated runway during landing or takeoff. Fortunately, there were no injuries recorded as all passengers disembarked safely and calmly despite the scare.

Confirming the incident, the airline’s spokesperson, Mr. Osifo-Whiskey Efe, clarified that the aircraft “slightly veered off the runway without sustaining any damage.” He further reassured the public that Air Peace remains fully committed to upholding the highest safety standards in its operations.
“We wish to confirm that all passengers disembarked safely and there were no injuries. Safety remains our utmost priority,” the airline stated.
Eyewitnesses reported that passengers appeared visibly shaken but grateful for the safe handling of the situation by the crew.

Aviation observers note that such excursions, while unsettling, are not uncommon in global aviation. Just seven months ago, an Allied Air cargo plane also skidded off the runway at Abuja Airport, coming to rest on the grass verge of the runway extension.
Authorities at Port Harcourt International Airport have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
