K1 De Ultimate Denies FAAN’s Claims, Says It Was Only Drinking Water at Abuja Airport
Fuji music legend, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has dismissed claims that he splashed alcohol on airline officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, insisting that the content in question was plain drinking water.
K1’s reaction comes after the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) released a statement alleging the artist caused a disturbance during security screening for a ValueJet flight on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
According to FAAN, the veteran singer was asked to present the contents of a flask in his possession. The agency claimed that during the encounter, K1 allegedly poured alcohol on some of its officials.

However, in a swift rebuttal issued on Wednesday by his media aide, Kunle Rasheed, the artist described the allegations as exaggerated and misleading, stating that at no point did he act in a way that threatened aviation safety or protocol.
“The flask contained ordinary drinking water handed to him while waiting at the lounge. Despite his respectful clarification, the situation was unnecessarily escalated,” Rasheed said.
He further debunked accusations that K1 obstructed the aircraft or attempted to delay operations, noting that the singer is a frequent traveler who understands and respects aviation rules.
“If there had truly been misconduct, neither the airport’s security chief nor representatives from FAAN, NCAA, or the airline’s management would have reached out later to apologise,” the statement added.

Rasheed revealed that the airline even arranged for a private jet to fly K1 to Lagos at no cost—a gesture the artist politely declined despite repeated persuasion from top airline officials.
He emphasized that only K1 and his personal assistant were involved in the incident, and that no confrontation or aggressive behavior took place. Rasheed also mentioned that several passengers who witnessed the exchange appealed to K1 to stay calm, recognising the pressure he was under.
In a final note, the statement hinted at ongoing disciplinary action involving the pilot in question, whose license has reportedly been suspended. Rasheed suggested that attempts to deflect blame should be expected.
“K1 is a law-abiding citizen who has continued to cooperate with relevant authorities to ensure the matter is resolved appropriately. We urge the public to rely on verified facts and avoid sensational narratives,” the statement concluded.
