“Men who promised me monetary gifts on social media are asking me to meet them in hotel rooms to collect it. Do I have to come to a hotel room before you help me? Dear men, please do better,” she wrote in frustration.
Her statement, which has circulated widely on social media platforms, has drawn sympathy and criticism alike, as many Nigerians condemned the practice of tying financial support to personal or compromising demands.

According to observers, Emmanson’s situation highlights the risks often faced by women who openly solicit or receive offers of help online. While social media is widely regarded as a platform for connection and assistance, it has also been used by some individuals to exploit vulnerable users.
Reactions to her post stressed that assistance should be given without conditions that compromise dignity or safety, with many urging men to show genuine kindness instead of manipulation.
Emmanson’s comments have since continued to trend, sparking fresh debate on how online financial offers are being used and abused.
