Ohanaeze Denies Report on Igbo Exclusion from 2027 Presidency
Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has dismissed as false a report suggesting that the organisation barred Igbo people from contesting the 2027 presidential election.
The President General of the apex Igbo socio-cultural body, Chief Azuta Mbata, clarified a statement he personally signed on Wednesday night, describing the report as fake and unfounded.
He stressed that any Igbo man or woman with a political party affiliation and ambition is free to contest any position, including the presidency, in the forthcoming elections.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide is a socio-cultural organisation of Ndigbo and not a political party. As such, Ohanaeze is not in a position to dictate or advise on who should or should not contest elections in Nigeria. Ndigbo are encouraged to continue their lawful political activities in the parties of their choice,” Mbata said.

He urged members of the public to disregard the publication, insisting it did not emanate from Ohanaeze.
