Tinubu Returns to Abuja After Diplomatic Visits to Japan, Brazil
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja after completing official trips to Japan and Brazil.
The presidential aircraft touched down in the early hours of Thursday, August 28, 2025, marking the end of a week-long diplomatic engagement aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s international partnerships.
Tinubu departed Brazil on Wednesday after a state visit that focused on deepening bilateral ties. His jet took off from Brasília International Airport Air Force Base at 12:57 p.m. local time. He had arrived in Brasilia on Monday, August 25, where he was received with full military honours at the Palacio do Planalto.

During the visit, Tinubu held talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and other top officials. The discussions culminated in the signing of five Memoranda of Understanding in critical sectors, including aviation, foreign affairs, science and technology, and agriculture.

The agreements are expected to boost Nigeria’s development agenda and enhance cooperation between the two countries.
